Cyberspace Solarium Commission on FBI's work to stop cybercriminals

International cybercrime investigations present an array of increasingly complex and diffuse challenges. Getting multiple investigative organizations and the legal procedures that bind them to work together requires unprecedented collaboration. To keep pace with these evolving borderless and highly technical crimes in cyberspace, the FBI has been leaning on its cyber attachés, who work with foreign partners to address the growing global threat. In this op-ed, two members of the Cyberspace Solarium Commission talk about what the program has done to take down criminals, and how it helps both the U.S. and foreign countries fight bureaucratic red tape when time is of the essence. New handbook for data officers brings states up to speed

The Beeck Center for Social Impact and Innovation at Georgetown University last week published a new framework designed to help state governments understand how chief data officers can be most effective as data becomes a more common tool to further policy goals like reopening economies during the coronavirus pandemic and reforming police departments. “There’s a lot of excitement with data in states and they get pulled in a lot of different directions, so putting a framework in place that can be followed to almost bring some order to the chaos is really something we heard would be super valuable,” said Tyler Kleykamp, a former Connecticut data chief who runs the Beeck Center’s State Chief Data Officers Network. 'Pay-what-you-can' education

The University of Arizona has announced it it will make some of its programming more affordable through corporate partners, “pay-what-you-can” programming and open online courses. “We listened to our community and realized that some needed help as they were either suffering financially, being furloughed or laid off, while others wanted to help support those who could not afford learning,” UA assistant dean Joe Carella said. The Leadership Readiness for Turbulent Times program is the university's response. Betsy Foresman has the details. Betsy Foresman reports.
