Census hiring systems have issues, report says, but bureau begs to differ

Despite an inspector general alert to the contrary, the Census Bureau says its employee recruiting systems are on track to perform as required as it gears up for the hiring of a temporary workforce to complete the 2020 Census. In the alert, the Commerce Department's IG says tech challenges led to delays and performance failures during the recruiting systems' testing. In response, the bureau said the findings relied on outdated information. Tajha Chappellet-Lanier has more.
