The average security clearance takes between nine months and nearly a year and a half to process, according to the National Background Investigations Bureau, but Rep. Will Hurd thinks the process should take as little as three days. A drastically reduced wait time for security clearances could mean clearance-necessary jobs are more attractive to the workforce outside of government service right now.
