DHS wants to rewrite the book on hiring cyber talent

The Department of Homeland Security has blown up the hiring process for cybersecurity talent, according to its chief human capital officer. Angie Bailey testified recently that DHS is working on way to escape the General Schedule (GS) system of pay and hiring to find better ways to reach cybersecurity specialists where they are and offer them jobs commensurate to their nontraditional technical experience. "We’re going to have the ability to go to Black Hat and some of the different conferences and be able to recruit directly and make job offers directly to those folks out of those different technical conferences and things like that,” Bailey said.
