Two historically black universities in Virginia to get $3.5M for STEM
Gov. Ralph Northam proposed a $1 million investment, matched with $2.5 million in private funds, for two of the state's historically black colleges to implement a program centered around developing STEM teachers in the state. The investment is an attempt to help address the state's tech-workforce shortage by training teachers who will in turn teach the related subjects to a new generation of students. The announcement comes as part of Northam's 2020 budget which contained increased for STEM education, as well as more funding for HBCUs. Jake Williams has more.
