Teresa Carlson

VP, Worldwide Public Sector, Amazon Web Services

State, local, regional and federal governments, academic organizations and nonprofits — Carlson’s portfolio at AWS covers them all and spans the entire globe. Since launching AWS’s public sector presence in 2010, Carlson has developed a base of 2,000 government, 4,500 education, and 17,500 nonprofit customers. Carlson called it “absolutely vital” for the federal government to recruit and retain tech talent. “The number one thing I hear from customers around the world is that they need more skilled talent,” Carlson told FedScoop. “That is equally true in the U.S. federal government. That’s why AWS has been working with community colleges and universities around the world to launch cloud degrees, working directly with customers to provide free cloud trainings and certifications, and engaging young students to foster a passion for cloud.”
